Itinerary for a Perfect Weekend With Kids and Pets in Westport, WA

Traveling with children can be a bit more work. There is more to pack. More to plan. And let’s face it, it’s harder to” just wing it.” Of course, plans, no matter how great a plan it is, can change. Here is a great itinerary for families. Back-up choices have been added as well.

Who?     This itinerary is great for families with kids of all ages.

When?   Can be done during any season, but is optimal April through September   

                 for the best weather.          

Where?  Stay at South Bay Inn or Silver Sands Motel Westport. These are         

                 conveniently located close to beach access and the town.

Day 1

Afternoon Arrival

• Check Inn at family friendly Silver Sands Westport or South Bay Inn
• Stretch your legs and take a short walk on the beach. Enjoy beachcombing or a scavenger hunt

Dinner

• Grab dinner at Bennett’s Fish & Chips or Aloha Alabama BBQ

Evening

• Get some golden-hour sunset photos from the Westport Observation Tower, where you can get a 360⁰ view
• Treat before bed? Grab some taffy or fudge from one of the many sweet shops
• Return to the room, unwind, read a book, or play a family game

Day 2

Breakfast

• Have a delicious breakfast at Blue Buoy or Little Richard's House of Donuts

Morning

• Family whale watching trip (seasonal) or short charter fishing trip
• Visit the Westport Maritime Museum as a second option

Lunch

• Snack and a pick-me-up from South Bay Espresso or grab something to go from Knotty Pine Bar & Grill

Afternoon Activity

• Build Sandcastles at one of the State Park Beaches in the area or rent bicycles
• Take a short visit to the Aquarium in town
• Another option is to tour the International Mermaid Museum

Dinner

• Blackbeard’s Brewing Company or Knotty Pine Bar & Grill

Evening Adventures

• Have a bonfire on the beach with s’mores (If permitted on the beach at that time)
• Another option is to watch a movie in the room with some popcorn

Day 3

Breakfast

• Get a bite to eat from one of the places you did not try yet

Morning

• Pack your belongings and check out.
• Don’t forget to reserve your next stay to come back

Last Adventures

• Stop in a few local shops and pick up some souvenirs and saltwater taffy before heading out
• Grab some delicious seafood to take home before you go
